Comparing and Contrasting In this lesson you will learn about comparing and contrasting By: Amanda

Comparing and Contrasting Listen hard and listen well! There will be a quiz after-words. Oh no!!!!!!

Comparing and Contrasting Time for your lesson!

Comparing and Contrasting By understanding similarities and differences between two things, we can increase our understanding and learn more about both. Many paragraphs whose function is to compare or contrast will begin with an introductory sentence expressed in general terms.

Comparing and Contrasting Define: comparing and contrasting * study the similarities and differences between things * Careful analysis between two or more objects, whereby all similarities and differences are observed, recorded, and studied to understand reasons

Comparing and Contrasting When you compare and contrast two things, you think about ways that they are alike and different. This process can help you understand both things better.

Comparing and Contrasting You compare things all the time. You compare your grades in science with your grades in social studies. You compare your choices when you are deciding on shoes, clothing, desserts, and movies.

Comparing and Contrasting For instance in this picture there are three different types of coral. One is red, one is green, and one is purple.

Comparing and Contrasting Also, many adults go to work in the morning. Some work with computers others answer telephone calls. You can compare and contrast computer companies with others and kinds of telephones with others.

Comparing and Contrasting Your parents will compare and contrast the amount of money spent each week, and the amount of money earned each week.

Quiz Time! Time for your quiz! Oh no! Don’t worry! The quiz is only 5 questions.

The Quiz! What is the definition of comparing and contrasting? (a) Similarities and differences between things (b) The differences between two people’s thoughts (c) The similarities between a sweater and a jacket

Quiz Time There was once a young princess. She had lived in a palace all of her life. Her name was Angelina. Angelina lived in the palace with her mother and father.

Quiz Time What kind of palace did Angelina live in? Now it’s the time where you can use your imagination. Think of what type of palace Angelina lives in. Raise your hand and tell me what kind of palace you think Angelina lives in. Wait for two people to share their answer and then raise your hand to compare and contrast the two answers.

Quiz Time Angelina went to a very fancy ball. She wore three dresses that night.her dresses were three colors ______ _____, and ______.they had sequens and glitter and lots of sparkles

Quiz Time Now look at the blanks. Fill them in with your own words. Compare and contrast what you think the words would have in common and what they don’t.

Thanks! I would like to thank you for watching this production. Now I would like you to raise your hand and give me a summary of this lesson.

Great Job! This show took a lot of work. I would like to thank you for watching, participating, and hopefully you learned a great deal. Thanks!
