Lesson 7 & 8 Important topics

Lesson 7 Be supposed to: A teacher is supposed to teach children and help them learn new things. A doctor is supposed to help people when they are sick or to control them not to be sick. I’m supposed to study if I want to pass my tests. We use the structure “be supposed to” when we want to talk about what you need to do something. What are you supposed to do to achieve your goals in life?

Past Perfect We use this to talk about past actions that happened before another past action. Sue left at 7pm. We arrived at 8.30. When we arrived at Sue’s house, she had already left.

Lesson 8 Me either/ me neither. In colloquial spoken language some people use me neither in place of neither do I. A- I don't like getting up in the morning. B- Neither do I. /Me neither. In the US some people will also use me either in that case: A- I don't like getting up in the morning. B- Me either. I do / I have / I can A- I like ice cream B- ME TOO. A- I have never been to USA. B- I HAVE. (neither do I) A- I can’t speak english very well. B- I CAN. (neither do I) A- I don’t like camping. B- I DO. (me neither)

Double Comparatives. We use this structure to say that two things happen, one depending on the other. The older I get, the more I will understand. The sooner I get the tickets, the less I have to worry. The more I study, the more I know.
