Mrs. Pippin 7th 2016-2017 Science Expectations Consequences How to contact me CLASS MATERIALS pippinm@loudoncounty.org 865-986-9944 ext 4832 Required: ☐ Highlighters ☐ 1.5” to 2” binder ☐ Glue Stick or Bottle ☐ College-ruled filler paper ☐ One pair of scissors ☐ 5 Pack of Dividers ☐ Multiple Post-It notes ☐ Multiple pencils ☐ 12 or more colored pencils ☐ Composition book Recommended: Subscribe to Webpage! Grades Come to class everyday with a great attitude. Listen and speak respectfully to others. Act appropriately by following all school rules. Speak in an appropriate voice level; no talking during instruction or presentations. Struggle to learn by asking for help. You can succeed! Expectations 70% 30% Assessments Classwork & Homework Warning: the teacher provides a verbal reprimand/reminder Ticket: paper record of behavior placed in student file for the grade level Silent Lunch: after 3 tickets the student will serve silent lunch Conference: after 6 tickets the student will have a conference with teachers Referral to Administration: a student will be immediately referred to administration for severe behavior problems. The majority of a student’s grade is determined by assessments. These include, but are not limited to: labs, quizzes, tests, benchmarks, and projects. The remaining portion of a student’s grade comes from classwork and assigned homework. Consequences

Mrs. Pippin 7th 2016-2017 Science Study Island Socrative QR Reader Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy All work needs to be turned in on time to receive full credit. Late work will be taken, but at a penalty to the student. Assignments turned in late will be graded and then half credit will be given. All late work must be turned in by the end of a grading period to receive any credit. If a student misses a class, he or she needs to come see the teacher immediately upon return. With the modified block schedule it can be harder on the student to wait until he or she goes to Science class again. Recommended times to get make up work from the teacher would be during specials (with a signed note) or right after school. Technology We use You are strongly urged to download & be familiar with the following apps. Socrative Study Island QR Reader Remind Cheating The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating is suspected. The student will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment. A great way for both parents and students to stay in the loop with class reminders and deadlines is to use Remind. Text Sign Up I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for 7th Grade Science. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, assignments, calendars, and resources are available to me on the school’s website. I understand that there will be a quiz over the information on this syllabus and the lab safety contract to ensure I read and understand the rules and expectations.
