PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEVELOPS student’s knowledge and practical skills necessary to enable a better quality of life . ALLOWS students to be happy, healthy and responsible people within our society. INCREASES student self-esteem and promotes informed decision making about healthy lifestyle changes.

PDHPE AS A KEY LEARNING AREA Students are required to participate in two hours a week of physical activity at school. Students are required to participate in an hour of moderate activity each day at home.

LINKS TO GOOD HEALTH & SAFETY The study of PDHPE includes health topics such as personal hygiene , grooming, eating healthy and regular exercise. Safety topics discussed in PDHPE include road and water safety and the effects of drugs. Students can apply the knowledge and skills acquired in their daily life's.
