French Exploration:

Reasons for European Exploration: French (France) France began sending explorers to in 1562 for economic reasons: looking for gold - explored Canada and Southern USA - The French explored along the Mississippi River and established Lousiana - set up villages in Louisiana such as New Orleans and into Alabama (Mobile). France wanted prestige and power over who? - Spain and Great Britain

Native americans: The French had a good relationship with the Native Americans They still wanted to convert them to Christianity. - if they did convert they would become French citizens
