Colonization of America

What is a Colony? An area under the control of another country. Primarily for resources.

1st settlement Set up by John Smith Jamestown, Virginia  1st settlement Set up by John Smith Would not have survived without more colonist coming and the development of tobacco. 

The three regions and the 13 colonies Turn to page 31 in the textbook. List the three regions of colonies and the colonies located there.

What divides britain and the colonies? Mercantilism- a nation's power= the amount of gold/silver and a balance of trade. Navigation Acts- Restricts trade on colonists. French and Indian War- Britain borrows large amounts of money and forces colonies to help with the burden.

American Revolution 

Constitution  Articles of Confederation put in place, but not strong enough. Federalist vs Anti-Federalist  Had to include Checks and Balances and the Bill of Rights Amending? How many are there Amendments?
