The President Reacts The government’s reaction was to calm down and have confidence

Hoover believed federal relief would undermine people’s self-respect… so he only endorsed local programs

To create more jobs, the government spent more on building projects: roads, parks, and dams Hoover set up the Reconstruction Finance Corporation… which seemed to only help the banks

But no matter how hard he tried, the American public soon began blaming him and the Republican Party …and protestors let him know how they felt
