(36+7) Complete written calculations with 2 digit numbers (tens and units) Addition to 100 without then with carrying a ten Subtraction within 100, without then with exchanging a ten Use 20p, 50p then £1 coins to pay for items. Calculate change from 50p then £1 - maths in a context Introduce times tables:- 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x &10x Introduce division by 2, 3, 4, 5 & 10 (without remainders)

Primary Four –First Level Number and Number processes Revise 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x & 10 x tables Introduce 6x, 7x, 8x & 9x tables Rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 HTU addition and subtraction(with and without carrying and exchanging) TU/HTU multiplication by a single digit(with and without carrying) TU/HTU division by a single digit(with and without remainders) Use coins up to £5 and work out change Find fractions of numbers(half, third and quarter) Answer word problems involving the 4 operations – CUBES approach

Oral / Mental Maths Strategies Number and Number Processes Big Maths Beat That – ‘Learn Its’ and weekly challenge in terms 2 and 4. P2- 30 seconds (17 sums) P3 - 90 seconds (40 sums) P4 – 60 seconds (24 sums) Switcher facts – e.g. 7 + 6 =13, 6 + 7 =13 Fact Families 7 + 6 = 13 3 x 4 = 12 6 + 7 = 13 4 x 3 = 12 13 - 7 = 6 12 ÷ 3 = 4 13 - 6 = 7 12 ÷ 4 = 3 Jigsaw numbers to 10/20/50/100 Whiteboards - show me ‘brainscanners’ Getting pupils to explain their answers/ strategies used(Number Talks) Estimate / Calculate / Check – a reasonable answer?

How can you help at home? Practise ‘Learn Its’ / Times tables (P3 & P4) with your child. Ask them to give switcher fact/ fact family of a given sum. Numbers before / after and between, 10 more than 26, 34 etc Frequently ask them to tell time (digital and analogue) Time - o’ clock / half past (P2) - quarter past / to (P3) Provide opportunities to count out amounts of money / calculate change.
