Proposed Resolution for Draft 3.0 July 2001 doc.: IEEE 802.11-01/434r1 July 2002 Proposed Resolution for Draft 3.0 Lim Wei Lih (Matsushita Electric Ind.) Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind. Wei Lih Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Content TSPEC Element Set Polling Start Time July 2002 Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

TSPEC Element Set Issues on TSPEC Parameters July 2002 TSPEC Element Set Issues on TSPEC Parameters Some vague definition, may cause different interpretation Clarification is required for the following parameters Maximum Burst Size Minimum Data Rate Mean Data Rate Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Maximum Burst Size Current Description Text July 2002 Maximum Burst Size Current Description Text “Maximum Burst Size field is 2 octets in length, and a non-zero value specifies the maximum data burst, in units of eight octets, of MSDUs belonging to this TS that may occur for transport within the delay and jitter bounds under this traffic specification. The field A value of 0 indicates unspecified maximum burst size. Maximum Burst Size” What is the duration that is being based to determine Maximum Burst Size? Proposal: Another parameter to specify the duration used to compute maximum burst size is required. Burst Size Computation Duration “Burst Size Computation Duration is 1 octet in length, and a non-zero value specifies the amount of time in TU that Maximum Burst Size is based on. A value of 0 indicates unspecified Burst Size Computation Duration. This field should not hold a value of 0 if Maximum Burst Size is a non-zero.” Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Minimum Data Rate Current description text July 2002 Minimum Data Rate Current description text “The Minimum Data Rate field is 2 octets in length, and a non-zero value specifies the lowest data rate, in units of1 kbit/s (1k = 1000), that is acceptable for transport of MSDUs belonging to this TS within the delay and jitter bounds under this traffic specification. A value of 0 indicates unspecified minimum data rate.” Proposal: Add to following text to the end of the existing description text for Minimum Data Rate: This field is to be used to compute the bandwidth that the traffic stream is required for transmission to meet minimum QoS expectation. Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Mean Data Rate Current description text July 2002 Mean Data Rate Current description text “The Mean Data Rate field is 2 octets in length, and a non-zero value specifies the nominal sustained data rate, in units of 1 kbit/s (1k = 1000), for transport of MSDUs belonging to this TS within the delay and jitter bounds under this traffic specification. A value of 0 indicates unspecified mean data rate.” Proposal: Change the name of this parameter to “Substantial Data Rate” with the following definition: “The Substantial Data Rate field is 2 octets in length, and a non-zero value specifies the substantial data rate, in units of 1 kbit/s (1k = 1000), for transport of MSDUs belonging to this TS within the delay and jitter bounds under this traffic specification. A value of 0 indicates unspecified mean data rate. This field is to be used to compute the recommended bandwidth to be dedicated in the case that substantial unused bandwidth remain.” Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Polling Start Time When can HC start to poll the transmitter? July 2002 Polling Start Time When can HC start to poll the transmitter? Right after poll? BurstAck session setup maybe considered as inactivity Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.

Determination of Polling Start Time July 2002 Determination of Polling Start Time Bit 10 in TS Info field, “Delay”, is used to indicate the mode of Polling Start Time If Delay = 1, then by accepting this TSPEC, HC should not start polling the transmitter until a ActivateTS QoS Action Mgt frame is being received. If Delay = 0, then polling start time is to be determined by HC. bits: 0-1 2-3 4 5-7 8-9 11 12-15 Traffic Type TSInfo Ack Policy FEC User Priority Direction reserved TSID 10 Delay Figure 42.8 – TS Info field Isaac Lim, Matsushita Electric Ind.
