Bellwork (Warm-up) Zen through Video? for 12/15-16/16 Answer the question or fill in the blank by watching and listening to the videos. Use the links to watch them. A. Video #1 https://drive.google.com/a/ccusd.org/file/d/0BxSwEEGqdo_GQjFDZVhPV19wUFE/view?usp=sharing 1. Identify Zen by drawing the two symbols and the plus sign between them as shown in the video. 2. Explain Zen by filling in the blanks. “Zen’s main focus is to stay present in the ___________________without judging anything or anyone. Enjoy the present moment to the __________________.” B. Video #2 https://drive.google.com/a/ccusd.org/file/d/0BxSwEEGqdo_GVEJTdTNlSWtJV0k/view?usp=sharing 1. What conclusion do you come to about why a monk does chores? 2. The video states and shows that Zen students are presented with a “koan” to solve. A koan is a problem in the form of a paradox that cannot be solved by depending on human reasoning skills alone. An example is, “clap with one hand.” Can you create your own koan for others to solve? Try, and write it down.
