Tuesday 9/18/18 Notebook Entry: Remember the video I showed you about how science works and the spider? What was the challenge that the group of scientists faced in that video? You may discuss with your neighbor if your memory is fuzzy.

What’s the Big Question? What skills do scientists use to solve problems?

Build a Boat Challenge leTS GET STARTED!!!!

The Problem: Review of the Story Friends are locked inside a historic fort only accessed by a drawbridge which has been raised. You will build a boat to float keys to the drawbridge. 6 keys are needed to unlock it from the inside. You are limited in your supplies

Science Practices: The Work of Science Ask Questions & Define Problems I identify what is already known. I determine what questions have yet to be answered. I define constraints & criteria for a solution.

Criteria (plural) Criteria are the things that must happen to accomplish the task. What are the criteria of this current problem?

Constraint Constraints are the factors that limit how you can solve the problem. What are some constraints in this problem?
