Blame The revolutionary zeal of the Fr Rev was blamed on enlightened ideals such as equality, constitutionalism, and national pride Those who upheld these ideals were called ‘liberals’ Thus, liberalism was born

Conservatism: Enemy of the liberal Conservative = advocates status quo or a return to the old traditional ways

Most Importantly, Conservatism places State Interests above Individual Interests
