Diversity of Life Reading Reflection #11 By: E.O. Wilson Chapter 12: Biodiversity Threatened

Reading Reflection The last major extinction in North America occurred 11,000 years ago and claimed 73% of the large mammal genera. What are the two major theories on why this extinction occurred? What evidence is there to support these theories? “Human demographic success has brought the world to this crisis of biodiversity.” Explain the correlation between humanity’s “success” and the destruction of one of the hot spots described on pgs 260-269.
