What is Bibliotherapy? Dictionary Definition: “The use of books as therapy in the treatment of mental or psychological disorders.” Because of this definition, there’s some debate as to whether or not a teacher is qualified to use Bibliotherapy. Teachers can use Bibliotherapy beyond it’s dictionary definition and use it to help a child solve a “problem.”
What’s a Problem? A child must view what you’re trying to teach as a problem. If a child steals, but likes it, and doesn’t see anything wrong with it, is it a problem to the child? Bibliotherapy can be used (If a book exists of it) for any problem a child thinks he/she has.
