FOUR CORNERS STEP BY STEP Silently walk to one corner of the room. (No one in the middle) Observe where others are standing Turn to a person also in your corner and discuss: Why did you choose this corner? Opinion/reasons/example Be prepared to share out to the whole room.

Four Corners Food represents our cultural beliefs. When cooking, one should always follow the recipe. Knowing how to cook well can protect you if you are rich and help you survive better when you are poor. Cooking cannot really be learned because it is a natural talent that you either have or don’t have. cooking is more of a science than an art.

DATE: AIM: How do we identify the main idea by letting out thinking evolve? DO NOW: What is inference? What is the difference between making an inference and identifying the main idea? What is paraphrasing? What is the difference between paraphrasing and summarizing?

Answer: food should be beautiful, interesting, and fragrant. Enjoy all aspects of food to fully enjoy eating

Example Newcomers is a school for immigrants. Newcomers is a school anyone can go to who needs to learn English. Newcomers is highly ranked because our students work hard and are successful. Newcomers is a great place for immigrants learning English to be successful.

Evolving Main Idea Read 3 paragraphs On your sticky note, finish the sentence: “So far, I think the Main Idea is _______________________________________________.” Put your sticky note in the top box. Read the next 3 paragraphs Finish the sentence “Now I think the Main Idea is ____________________________________________.” Move the sticky note from the top box into a different box. Decide where you think it belongs. Continue by repeating steps 1-6
