Source 2: Sandra Cisneros: Facing Backwards

1. In paragraph 2 of “Sandra Cisneros: Facing Backwards,” Queirós writes that “The novel . . . proved an authentic vehicle for exploring themes of culture and tradition and the lives and roles of Latinas growing up in the States.” How does this quotation contribute to the meaning of the paragraph?   It demonstrates how, through her novel House on Mango Street, Cisneros helped Latino culture gain acceptance in America. It shows that Cisneros wrote about her former students. It suggests that Cisneros is grateful to the women who gave her their stories. It illustrates how Cisneros’ views have changed over the past 25 years.
