KEY STAGE 1 SESSION PLAN

TARGETS 2 LEARNING OUTCOMES To become creative. To use various shapes to create a target Focus: Shapes Sub-Focus: Creative shapes and flexibility Session Objective: to be creative to make targets that can be used successfully.

Activity Detail Skills Used Resource Warm Up Skill Focus Travelling around area using various movements and body parts. High knees, side steps, running, forwards, backwards. Stretching exercises, warming all muscles in the body. Jogging Skipping Side stepping Walking Striding Skill Focus Children will be working in small groups. They will be taking in turns to make a target. The coach will demonstrate the targets. Goal posts.( using hands and feet like a bridge) Goal using just there feet as wide as they can go. A hoop using hands putting them out in front of them. Creativity Flexibility Agility Cones Balls Technical Practice Once the children haave practiced these shapes they will then take it in turns to role a ball through the targets. Starting at a close distances then gradually increasing the distances. For the hoop they will throw the ball the hoop shape. Progression Adding in a point scoring system to make it competitive

Assessment Struggles to make shapes without help. Occasionally demonstrates the ability to do so. Can occasionally move creatively and make shapes without help. May frequently do one of the objectives but not both. Frequently moves creatively and makes shapes throughout session without help.
