Webb Bridge Middle School TAG Program

Fulton County TAG Classes Middle school TAG classes are advanced content courses aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards. The curriculum for each TAG course is differentiated for gifted students with the addition of the following TAG standards and elements. The standards and elements are incorporated into the adopted Fulton County curriculum to ensure that the middle school TAG classes are rigorous and challenging for gifted learners. The following key serves as a guide for when students will be introduced to the TAG Standards and Elements and how they will develop independence in applying them their area(s) of interest.

Goals Gifted students are offered educational experiences that promote the development and expression of their potential. At WBMS the gifted program strives to address the unique learning styles, interests, personal needs, and capabilities of gifted students.

TAG at WBMS Give students the chance to work with their intellectual peers Recognize the fact that there are differences among gifted students Offer specialized educational experiences to meet these differences

The TAG Classroom Teachers adjust the rate and depth of lessons for individual learners Students are offered challenging instructional activities: Student directed learning Inquiry based learning Extended projects to enhance learning

Goals for TAG Students Develop advanced research skills Engage in independent learning Generate new ideas and projects Expand critical thinking skills Develop advanced communication skills

What will the TAG experience be like at WBMS? TAG Social Studies and Science Placements If a student is TAG eligible and meets performance requirements they are placed in courses with ALL TAG students. Math and Language Arts Placements Students are placed in accordance with the Continuous Achievement placement guidelines. Stand-alone and mixed model classes are taught by TAG teachers.

What are the requirements for a student to stay in a TAG class? Students must maintain an average grade of 80% at the end of each grading period to remain in a TAG class. If a student’s grade falls below 80% he/she will be placed on probation and provided an opportunity to improve the grade.

What are the benefits of TAG for HS? AP counts as TAG class Honors (mixed rosters) TAG internship – Junior/Senior
