ViiM Data and Systems Review: 1.0 Introduction SPRING 2012

Welcome and Introductions Please introduce yourself, your team and tell us one positive change that has occurred as a result of using data to make decisions.

Purpose This training will provide school leadership teams with time to review the status of their universal and targeted supports and act upon data to improve their reading and behavior outcomes.   Teams will review assessments to analyze their data, systems and practices to prioritize and plan for next year’s activities Less than 1 minute The main purpose is for teams to use BOTH their systems/process data AND their student outcome data to review their universal systems. They should leave with an understanding of how to review their data and develop an action plan through Michigan’s Continuous Improvement Process. Just as we expect teams to take the content from the reading and behavior trainings and apply those concepts back in their schools, we also expect that they will learn to replicate this data review process back in their schools.

Agenda 1.0 Introduction 2.0 Leadership team and systems review 3.0 Behavior Data Review and Action Planning 4.0 Academic Data Review and Action Planning 5.0 Pulling It All Together – Action Planning 6.0 Celebration! Less than 1 minute. This sequence should look very familiar, Cohort 5 followed this agenda all of last year for data review trainings.

Objectives By the end of the day, leadership teams will: Review the membership of the leadership team for 2012-13 and ensure that the right people are/will be on the team. Schedule their leadership team meetings for the 2012-13 school year. Use various instruments to assess the functioning of the leadership team and identify strengths and areas for action. Use  the SAS, BOQ and Big 5 behavior data to identify areas of need and develop action steps for universal and/or targeted supports. Use AIMSWeb reading benchmark data to Identify areas of need and develop action steps for universal and/or targeted supports.

Our Goal: Use data to plan for sustainability! Remember: Never stop doing what is already working Always look for the smallest change that will produce the largest effect Do not add something new without also defining what you will stop doing Collect and use data for decision making

What PD Needs do you have as a result of the needs that are identified What PD Needs do you have as a result of the needs that are identified. The more plan full you are about identifying need will help

Signal to Coaches & Trainers: Help Us Help You = We’re all set. No help needed. = We need help, but can continue with our work. = HELP! We can’t continue with our work. Cups should already be on the table. You may not need to use them if there are few teams.
