Water, Climate, and Vegetation. Earth’s Water Water covers about 70% of the Earth’s surface, most of it is saltwater. Some areas never have enough water.

Intro Objective 04/16/2012 Locate the different climates of the world. How would you describe Las Vegas’ climate? Does its climate have anything to do.
What is Climate? Climate is weather patterns over time and space (usually 30 years) Remember….weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular.
Ch Climate Zones. 3 Major Climate Zones  There are 3 different climate zones, they are categorized by their temperature and precipitation.
World Climates Objective: To examine and reflect on how different climate patterns of the world influence regions. 1.Tropical 2.Temperate 3.Polar 4.Dry.
V. Types of Climates. A. Climate Regions Patterns of temperature, precipitation, and wind create world climate regions Climate Regions- Areas that share.

CLIMATE ZONES

EQUATORIAL RAIN FOREST CLIMATE HOT, WET AND HUMID ALL YEAR ROUND, RAINS DAILY. DIRECT SUN KEEPS THE TEMPERATURES HIGH. FOUND IN THE EQUATOR REGION. THE TYPICAL LANDSCAPE IS THE RAINFOREST

TROPICAL SAVANNA CLIMATE DRY WINTERS, WET SUMMERS, LOCATED IN THE TROPICS JUST BEYOND THE TROPICAL RAINFOREST. LITTLE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE WHICH IS ALWAYS HIGH.

DESERT CLIMATE HOT DAYS, COOL TO COLD NIGHTS, THERE IS LITTLE TO NO RAIN IN THIS CLIMATE, THEREFORE IT IS VERY DRY. DESERTS COVER ABOUT 1/5 OF THE EARTH’S SURFACE.

STEPPE CLIMATE DRY AREAS THAT BORDER DESERTS STEPPE CLIMATE DRY AREAS THAT BORDER DESERTS. THESE AREAS HAVE VERY LITTLE RAINFALL ONLY ABOUT 10 TO 20 INCHES PER YEAR.

MARINE WEST COAST CLIMATE COOL SUMMERS, WITH MILD WINTERS, HEAVY RAINS IN THE WINTER

MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE MILD RAINY WINTERS WITH HOT DRY SUMMERS.

HUMID SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE RAIN FALLS ALL YEAR WITH HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SUMMER. WINTERS ARE SHORTER AND MILD SUMMERS ARE HOT AND HUMID

HUMID CONTINENTAL CLIMATE COLD SNOWY WINTERS, COOL TO WARM SUMMERS WITH SOME RAIN EVERY MONTH.

SUBARCTIC CLIMATE LONG VERY COLD WINTERS WITH SHORT COOL SUMMERS.

TUNDRA CLIMATE LONG BITTERY COLD WINTERS WITH VERY SHORT COOL SUMMERS TUNDRA CLIMATE LONG BITTERY COLD WINTERS WITH VERY SHORT COOL SUMMERS. SUMMERS GET CONSTANT LIGHT BUT LITTLE HEAT FROM THE SUN.

POLAR ICE CAP CLIMATE ALWAYS COVERED WITH SNOW AND ICE POLAR ICE CAP CLIMATE ALWAYS COVERED WITH SNOW AND ICE. BITTERLY COLD ALL YEAR AROUND WITH LITTLE TO NO PRECIPITATION.
