The Excretory System and You: A Love Story (sort of)

Why do I have to have an excretory system? Your body must remove unneeded and unused chemicals in order to maintain homeostasis.

Kidneys: Organs that remove excess water and urea from the blood.

Urinary bladder-an organ that stores urine until it can be disposed of.

Skin-helps your body get rid of excess water and salts.

Lungs-Your lungs remove carbon dioxide.

Liver-Your liver removes chemicals and dead blood cells Liver-Your liver removes chemicals and dead blood cells. It recycles these into bile, which aids in digestion.

Gall Bladder-stores bile until it is ready to be secreted into the small intestines.

Colon-aka large intestines remove water and excess or unusable food Colon-aka large intestines remove water and excess or unusable food. It gets waste products ready to go!
