Are Americans still “Puritans”? Are We Still Puritans? Read the New York Times article, “Still Puritan After All These Years” by Matthew Hutson As you read, take note of what Hutson’s argument is, and how he uses language to make this argument (this means: annotate for rhetorical devices). When you’re done reading, write a strong thesis statement that answers this question: Are Americans still “Puritans”? Include 3 rhetorical DEVICES he uses in his argument. We’ll go over this as a class, and try to analyze some of these examples together.
