Introduction Think of a good way to start your article. You may want to mention how important that profession is to your society, and why. Try to put this in very simple Spanish. Tell your reader about the purpose of the article—to inform them about a specific profession. List items you will discuss, such as characteristics, subjects of study, qualifications, 21st century skills, and responsibilities. Find these terms in Spanish. Use your dictionary. Habilidades para el siglo 21 (21st century skills)

Beginning…. Use phrases such as… Un/Una….es muy importante en la sociedad porque….(a(n)…is important in society because…) Voy a informarles sobre….(I’m going to inform you all about…)

Characteristics What characteristics should he/she have? Make a list of those adjectives. Look them up in your dictionary. Write them down.

Beginning…. Now, put your information together in a sentence. These are recommended characteristics, so be sure to use expressions requiring the infinitive, such as: Hay que + infinitive Tener que + infinitive Deber + infinitive Es necesario + infinitive Es importante + infinitive Examples for beginning your sentence: Para ser profesor, hay que ser….. Para ser investigador forense, tiene que ser…..

Field of Study Think about what this professional must know. What are the subjects they must study? What qualifications should they have? do a bit of research if you do not know. list these subjects, and qualifications. Find the meanings in Spanish. be sure to check the context. For instance, “degree” can refer to… “Temperature” or “extent” Find the one that is relevant to education For example, bachelor’s degree

Habilidades para El Siglo 21 Mentalidad creativa (Creative thinking) Mentalidad disciplinada (critical thinking) mentalidad sintetizadora (Synthesizing mind) mentalidad respetuosa (Respectful of diversity) mentalidad ética (ethical thinking)

Habilidades para El Siglo 21 Now, when you mention these, you should not use the exact terms. You will need to rephrase in some way. For example: Un autor debe tener una mente creativa, disciplinada, y sintetizadora. Select the 21st century skills that are especially needed by your professional. They will differ, depending on the career path and responsibilities.

Daily Responsibilities For this section, be sure to mention at least 5 daily responsibilities that are undertaken by your professional. Use only responsibilities that are unique to that profession. For example, stating that he works hard every day will not earn points in this category. Or, stating that she works on the computer….you would have to state what she does on the computer that is relevant to her job.

Daily Responsibilities, contin. Remember that if you use a subject, the verbs will be conjugated in the present tense. Ensure that the verb agrees with the subject. Review the different verb types if you are not sure how to do this. Watch out for irregular verbs!

Expresiones de Cohesión In your article, be sure to use connecting words and phrases. These give your writing a tone of maturity and organization. For example: Según – according to También – also Además – In addition to Por lo tanto – Therefore Efectivamente – Indeed Por ejemplo – For example Así como – As well as De hecho – In fact En resumen – In conclusion Finalmente – Finally

These should all be in spanish! Last Words… Remember to include a graphic of your profession, or at least one that relates to his/her field.
