1 SUMMARY SLIDE MODE CONVERTED ELECTROSTATIC NONLINEAR ION-ION HYBRID MODE IN TOKAMAK PLASMA. The paper addresses the nonlinear fate of the mode converted (MC) ion-ion hybrid electrostatic wave formed as a result of MC bi-product and the associated nonlinear plasma dynamics in the vicinity of the ion-ion hybrid resonance layer in a D(H) plasma. It examines the possibilty of nonlinear localised electric field structures in the form of ion-ion hybrid soliton. It turns out that ion-ion hybrid soliton exists if the wave frequency is less than the Buschbaum resonance frequency and if the concentration of lighter ions is less than the heavier ones. Quantitative analysis of these discussed dominant nonlinear phenomenon post mode conversion processes seems to be important in the estimation of local and global electric field profiles via full wave simulation techniques and Ion-Ion hybrid reflectometry.
