Submission Title: [Extend-Superframe and GTS Structure] Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [Extend-Superframe and GTS Structure] Date Submitted: [Jan 12, 2007 ] Source: [Pei Liu, Paul Dixon] Company: [Hisilicon] Address: [ Voice:[+86-10-8282-9011], E-Mail:[liupei@hisilicon.com] Re: [IEEE 802.15.4e group] Abstract: [The extend superframe and GTS proposal is presented in this document. This extension can improve the throughput and latency performance of WPANs, and it’s compatible with the current standard.] Purpose: [To encourage discussion.] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the Chinese WPAN group. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). Outline Motivation E-GTS Structure Modifications Submission Pei Liu

Motivation WPAN chips are applied in many types of electronic devices, including personal devices, WSN devices, etc. Different equipments have different data length and QoS requirements. The current superframe structure may not offer sufficient GTS slots for different QoS within one WPAN. Submission Pei Liu

Current GTS In order to ensure the CAP period length, total GTS are not more than 7 slots. Only one device (or pair-device) is allowed to use one GTS The granularity of GTS is one slot, where it is too large to short data packet in many application scenarios. Submission Pei Liu

Extended-GTS A more flexible way to allocate and use GTS which allow the devices to share one GTS for increasing throughput and QoS GTS requirement frame format includes the features of service Allows a device to share a GTS with other device(s) GTS is allocated based on resource and GTS requirement Submission Pei Liu

E-GTS Structure Device A and B share one GTS Submission Pei Liu

Modified GTS Request Command Where GTS characteristics to be expanded to 3 octet for service features Submission Pei Liu

GTS Allocation Procedure K is the number of GTS allocations N is the number of shared allocations n is the number of allocations requested Submission Pei Liu

Simulation Results Submission Pei Liu

Simulation Results proposed: DC = 0.5 SO = 0 Submission Pei Liu
