Sample of Question #1 The significance of Ms Sample of Question #1 The significance of Ms. Heitmann’s Name (Kristina) My mom showed me a film called Mommie Dearest when I was a young child: it’s about a Hollywood star who habitually abuses her adopted daughter, Christina. Christina had written a book about her experience, which became the basis for the film. My mom shared that this movie is reason she chose Kristina over what she had been considering (Jessica, Jennifer, or John, Jr.). I felt honored that I was named after an author and celebrity, and I assumed that’s why my mom choose it for me. Years later, we were watching the movie again, and I told her I had always admired Christina’s courage and determination. “Whatever,” my mom said, “I just thought the name was cool, and I liked that it didn’t start with a ‘J’ (everyone in my family has a J-name).” I responded, “Fine, but then why doesn’t my name start with ‘Ch’? You know everyone spells my name wrong.” She wanted my name to be different.
