Landslides – Geological problems

What do you have to do? You have been commissioned by West Dorset Council to draw up a plan to defend Lyme Regis, in particular the area inside the present harbour to the east of the Cobb. The council wants a scheme that will meet the social, economic and environmental needs of the town. The cost & effectiveness of the scheme will be key factors in deciding on the successful plan. Resources: Background info on Lyme Regis Sketch 1 – variable costs of coastal defences. Sketch 2 – outline sketch of Lyme Regis area. Table 1 Locals’ views Environmental Impact Assessment sheet Evaluate all the defence options; consider the different views; Devise a plan to protect the town – present your ideas as a report with sketches etc as appropriate.
