Evaluation Components

Evaluation Components PDPs: One related to last year’s evaluations and summary / One related to district goal (Meeting the Needs of All Learners) All PDPs must be submitted through MLP by October 30, 2018.

There are many ways to meet the goal of the PDP in all four domains.

Evaluation Components Observations: Your assigned evaluators are in MLP. Teachers participating in the Video Observation Protocol for the first time must attend training. Details are in the After School PD Catalog. There are updated pre- and post-conference questions developed with last year’s DEAC team. You can view them on MLP.

Evaluation Components SGOs: Each teacher needs two SGOs; these will be submitted through MLP.

A Student Growth Objective is a long-term academic goal that teachers set for groups of students. It must be: Specific and measurable Focused on the right content and skills Aligned to state/national standards Based on available prior student learning data Based on growth and achievement Ambitious and feasible

Each teacher shall develop, in consultation with his or her supervisor or a principal’s designee, each student growth objective. If the teacher does not agree with the student growth objectives, the principal shall make the final determination. NJAC 6A:10-4.2(e)3

Quality Measurement Tools Assessments used to track progress on SGOs can include national standardized tests, statewide assessments, or common department assessments. Teachers can use measurement tools such as traditional tests, portfolio reviews, or performance assessments.

Starting Points Get to know your students from multiple sources of baseline data that may be quantitative, qualitative, or both.

Two kinds of SGOs: General SGOs measure the number of students who meet a target score on a single assessment. That target score is based on information you’ve gathered about the students. That target score has to be determined by the time a teacher submits an SGO--and teachers may have different target scores.

Two kinds of SGOs: Tiered SGOs also measure performance, but require a closer look at baseline data to determine tiered groups based on starting points.

It is important to emphasize again that these groups are best developed when using multiple points of data and not just a pretest. This can and should include indicators of future success such as class participation, attendance, etc.

The low group, which makes up 56% of the entire group, scored in the 4 range. The Medium Group scored in the 3 range, and the High group, which only makes up 12% of the class, scored in the 2 range.
