Goals and Tools of Mathematical Education in the Modern World: what and how do students need to learn in math?

Mathematical knowledge of school graduates consists of basic notions, definitions, theorems and concepts but remains typically a technical one. What they do really need to know or may be to know to do and what is the place of “large” mathematical principles in school education? It seems that modern technological tools influence on construction of mathematical knowledge itself. What is the connection between this process and the ways of construction of mathematical knowledge and math reasoning of students in school? Usually we are talking on Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPaCK) of Math teachers. What do you think on structure, content of knowledge and mathematical skills of future (competent) secondary school teachers?
