AP is offered through the College Board. AP Facts: AP is offered through the College Board. Teachers must attend training and submit a course syllabus to the College Board. AP helps students stand out on college applications, build college skills, and earn college credit. https://apstudent.collegeboard.org

House Bill 1992 provides that Texas Universities accept a 3 or higher from AP exams. Average cost of 3 college hours in Texas = $1, 050 with Lamar slightly lower at $750.

Why don’t students take the AP Exam?

I don’t have time on a Saturday to take the exam. AP Exams are given during the school day and take approximately 2-3 hours. Tests are scheduled from May 6 – 17.

I can’t pass the test. Teachers are preparing students to take the AP exam through class coursework. AP classes are designed to engage students at rigorous levels. There is no penalty for attempting the test and not passing at a 3 or higher.

The exam is expensive. Costs for all AP Exams: Non Free and Reduced Lunch qualified = $85 Free and Reduced Lunch qualified = $25 BISD waives the $9 rebate from College Board for each exam

2019 Beaumont AP Exam Fee Schedule for Selected AP Courses Exam Fee/Free and Reduced Lunch $94 College Board Rebate -$9 =$85 College Board Reduction for Free and Reduced Lunch students -$32 =$53 TEA Subsidy -$28 =$25 BISD supplement/ Title funds -$16 =$9 AP Biology AP English Language AP English Literature AP Economics AP US History Exam Fee/ Non Free and Reduced Lunch $94 College Board Rebate -$9 =$85 BISD supplement / Title funds -$60 =$25

2019 Funding Assistance Requirements: 85 or higher for 9 week averages for the course No zeroes on any assignments Cost for AP Exam with additional BISD funding assistance will be $0 for the following courses: AP Biology AP English Language AP English Literature AP Economics AP US History

Additional Incentive Students taking an AP exam will not take the final for that specific course.

Goal for ALL Advanced Placement Students in BISD: Take the AP Exam and earn a score of 3 or higher
