Today we will be learning to: know which number is 1 or 10 more or less than a given number add and subtract understand place value.

Mental Activity Sit in groups. Make sure each group has a big piece of paper and a pen. The ‘leader’ is in charge of the pen.

The leader must choose a multiple of 10. Write it down. Circle it. I will call out a two-digit number.

Add the two-digit number to your number. Write the answer next to the original number. Check it. If it is right, put a  next to it. Swap ‘leaders’.

Main Activity Today we are going to be using our knowledge of a hundred square to work out missing numbers.

Write in the key numbers on the hundred square such as 1, multiples of 10 and 100.
