H M I S AND N F P A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION SAFETY RATINGS

HMIS RATING HAZARD 0-4 Health Hazard Flammability Physical Hazard Reactivity

0 = minimal hazard 1 = slight hazard 2= moderate hazard Health Hazard 0 = minimal hazard 1 = slight hazard 2= moderate hazard 3= serious hazard 4= severe hazard

NFPA Safety Diamond FLAMMABILITY HEALTH REACTIVITY SPECIAL

HEALTH 4 = Short exposure may cause death 3 2 1 0 = no health hazard

FLAMMABILITY 4 = will burn easily 3 2 1 0 = will not burn

INSTABILITY / REACTIVITY 4 = Can explode at normal temperatures 3 2 1 0 = Stable, even under exposure to fire

SPECIAL W = reacts with water in a dangerous or unusual way OX or OXY = oxidizer, can support a flame SA =asphyxiant gas
