Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies PBIS

Mission Statement Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS) are utilized in schools to maintain a positive, self-motivated atmosphere. The mission of Park Views PBIS is to establish PRIDE at Park View. PRIDE is the acronym for Pride, Responsibility, Initiative, Determination, Etiquette. The goal is to have our students demonstrate Park View PRIDE!

The accepted norm for disciplining a problem students is punishment, and if the students continue to misbehave suspension or expulsion. A lot of effort is put on punishing the negative. Many students do the right thing every day. The focus of PBIS is to acknowledge and reinforce the positive, while continuing to consequence the negative. The more positive reinforcement kids get, the likelihood of that behavior increasing goes up, the hope is to strike a balance between the positive and negative.

Teachers Role Recognize students who demonstrate P.R.I.D.E in 3 locations Classroom, Hallway, Lunchroom Hand out at least 5 P.R.I.D.E tickets per week to students. Place your ticket stubs in the appropriate bucket Thursday afternoon before you leave. (Grade level buckets will be on the counter in the main office.)

What are the incentives for students? Weekly drawings 3 winners per week per grade Prizes/ incentives TBD Drawing will take place Fridays during lunch just before Minute to Win it.

5 tickets will be placed in your mailbox Friday morning. See Deb Jarvis if you need additional tickets in a week or if you have extra tickets let us know. Once a ticket has been issued it cannot be retracted. Posters with classroom expectations should be visible in each classroom.

Timeline P.B.I.S will run weekly, first drawing will be October 5 th. We must review rubrics and reward accordingly. Make public when awarded to students in the classroom (have fun with the students). Anyone who would like to be part of the P.B.I.S team is welcome to join this years committee.
