Products of Crowley’s Ridge

Peaches Peaches have been grown in Wynne since the late 1800s. The elevated region of Crowley’s ridge is perfect for growing peaches. The elevation keeps the peaches from being killed by frost. Arkansas is ranked 13th in the nation in peach production.

Tulip Tree Crowley’s Ridge is the only place in Arkansas that Tulip trees grow naturally. Tulip trees vary in color from pink to yellow.

Tourism Cotton Branch Station is located in Marianna. Research is done here on cotton, soybeans, wheat, and other crops grown in Arkansas.

New Madrid Fault The first recorded earthquake in Arkansas occurred in 1699. The New Madrid Fault runs through Crowley’s Ridge and the Delta region. Should an earthquake occur on the New Madrid Fault, scientists have predicted that the hardest hit city will be Jonesboro.

Soybeans and wheat are grown in Crowley’s Ridge. There are gravel mines in St. Francis County. Jonesboro has several sawmills.
