Oxygen Acetylene Cutting Torch

Things you should always wear when using the torch Shaded Safety Glasses Gloves Face Shield (Optional) Long Sleeve Shirt Jeans Leather – Closed Toe Shoes

Torch Safety Only Use the Torch in Well Ventilated Areas Check for leaks by using soap water Keep the Area free from oil and gasoline

Cylinder Care Store or place cylinders in safe places with secure chains around them. Keep sparks and flames away When “cracking the cylinder valve” do not stand in front of the cylinder valve. Open oxygen cylinder all the way. Open acetylene cylinder a half turn

Hose Care Oxygen hoses are green, acetylene hoses are red Oxygen hose fittings have right-hand threads Acetylene fittings have left-hand threads Never used damaged hoses. Do not allow hoses to come in contact with hot metal or where sparks could accumulate

Torch Care and Lighting Never use a match to light torch. Do not light your torch from another person’s flame Always use correct pressures Be careful when handling a lit torch. Know where other people are and where combustibles are.

8 Steps to Start Up Torch Check both, oxygen and acetylene, regulators to make sure the adjusting screws are turned out. (counterclockwise)

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 2. Open Oxygen Cylinder Valve All the Way

8 Steps to Start up Torch 3. Open Acetylene Cylinder Valve ½ Turn

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 4. Turn the oxygen regulator adjusting screw clockwise until you have the desired pressure.(20 psi for cutting)

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 5. Turn the acetylene regulator adjusting screw clockwise until you have the desired pressure. (8 psi for cutting)

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 6. Open acetylene torch valve a small amount and ignite the gas with a flint lighter.

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 7. Turn the acetylene torch valve on slowly until the flame quits smoking.

8 Steps to Start Up Torch 8. Open the oxygen torch valve slowly until the flame loses the feather around the inner cone

Steps to Shut Off Torch Close the acetylene torch valve. (clockwise) Close the oxygen torch valve. (clockwise) Close both acetylene and oxygen cylinder valves. Bleed off pressure (open both torch valves and allow gases to escape until all gauges read zero.

Steps to Shut Off Torch 5. Close both torch valves. 6. Turn oxygen and acetylene regulator adjusting screws counter clockwise two turns. 7. Coil up hose and hang hose and torch on hook provided.
