Amendments An Amendment is an addition or change to something already established. Congress proposed 12 amendments in 1789 and three-fourths of the states approved ten of them in 1791, creating the Bill of Rights. Thus, the BoR are the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution.

Bill of Rights First 10 amendments added to the US Constitution is called The Bill of Rights 1. Amendment I: Freedom of religion, assembly, petition, press, speech 2. Amendment II: Right to bear arms (possess a gun)

Bill of Rights 3. Amendment III: No quartering of soldiers without consent (government can’t force citizens to house citizens) 4. Amendment IV: No searches and seizures without consent, warrant, or probable cause

Bill of Rights 5. Amendment V: Right to due process, to no incriminate yourself (remain silent), cannot be tried twice for the same crime, a grand jury must indict a suspect, and the right to eminent domain (government can take your house/property for fair price and to improve greater community)
