Beyond Graduate Survey 2015 Summary Analysis Provided by the Office of Strategic Planning and Information 08 March 2016

Introduction The Beyond Graduation Survey (BGS) is conducted by Graduate Careers Australia (GCA). The 2015 BGS population sample is graduates who completed their studies in 2011 and subsequently provided a response to the 2012 Australian Graduate Survey (AGS) and were recontacted and surveyed on their work and study activities. The purpose of this analysis is to highlight key findings; institutional trends; and benchmark against national averages.

CSU Summary Results and Trends

Summary In 2015, CSU Bachelor graduates saw a 43% salary growth over 3 years from their starting salaries reported in 2012. The median salary for CSU full-time employed Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion was $75,000 in 2015, equating to a $7,500 increase over 4 years since the 2012 BGS cohort.

Summary In 2015 86.6% of CSU Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion were either working or in full-time employment, 4 percentage points higher than the same cohort approximately 3 months post course completion. Over the past 4 years, full-time employment rates for CSU Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion show a small downward trend.

Summary In 2015 89.4% of CSU Bachelor graduates expressed broad satisfaction with their course 3 years post course completion, 2.5 percentage points lower than approximately 3 months post course completion.

Summary comparison: CSU against the National average

Summary Consistent with institutional trend, the National average for full-time employment rates for CSU Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion has fallen consecutively over the past 4 years. For the first time in 4 years, CSU’s 2015 cohort fell below the National average, 86.6% to 88.5% respectively.

Summary While the National average for the median salary for full-time employed Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion experienced a 6% increase over 4 years, CSU’s median salary increased by 11% in the same period. In 2015, CSU’s median salary for full-time employed Bachelor graduates 3 years post course completion was $5,000 higher than the national average.

Summary 2015 saw CSU fall below the National average for Bachelor graduates broad satisfaction with their course 3 years post course completion. In 2015, 89.4% of CSU Bachelor graduates expressed broad satisfaction with their course 3 years post course completion, 2.2 percentage points below the National average.
