September 2018 Meet and Greet Year 1

Our Timetable English Phonics Maths PE ICT/Computing CFL/topic Science SMSC / RE

PE Tuesday – Outdoor with Mr Smith. Thursday – Indoor with Mr Hassall. Kit; shorts, t-shirt, jogging bottoms, long sleeved top, plimsolls and trainers. Socks for girls.

Homework ! Spelling homework will be sent home once a week. See separate letter. Please continue to hear your child read regularly. Learning challenges

Mid Morning Break In Year 1 the children do not receive milk unless it has been ordered. Please could you ensure that the children all have their named water bottle in school. They will be sent home at intervals for washing. Fruit continues to be available to all the children to be eaten during the morning. Please make sure that you have awareness of the Healthy Snacks information sent to parents.

Beginning and End of the Day The children line up in their class line by the gate to the FS2 outdoor area, the teachers are available for quick information. Please feel safe in leaving your child in line, this also helps transition. Please could you make sure that the area is clear for the lines, especially when the whistle goes. After school could you please could you ensure that the children do not play on the equipment or within the FS2 patio area.

Independence Unpacking own book bag; water bottle, reading book and letters. Finding own resources to aid learning. Knowing what they are doing at the end of school. Changing own reading books.

Contact with Class Teachers There are many ways to get in touch with us here at Jesse Gray. Teachers are frequently available on the playground before and after school and are happy to chat. Alternatively please contact the office or staff member via email to arrange an appointment. Please be aware that staff emails will be replied to during the working day; please do not be offended if you do not receive a reply over the weekend or in the evening. Please also be aware that drop in sessions are available with Dawn Read to discuss any concerns or questions about your child. These are Monday – Thursday, 8.30 – 9.30.
