Presentation transcript:

1 Point Perspective J.Barnett

Terms One point perspective gets its name from the fact that it utilizes a single vanishing point. Linear Perspective - the use of lines to render objects leading to the illusion of space and form in a flat work of art. Horizon Line –the vantage point from where the view is observing. Vantage Point - Dots placed on the horizon are called the "vanishing points". Orthogonal -  lines that recede back to the vanishing point are added from each corner of the object.

Horizon Line –the vantage point from where the viewer is observing.

Orthogonal -  lines that recede back to the vanishing point are added from each corner of the object.

Orthogonal -  lines that recede back to the vanishing point are added from each corner of the object.

Orthogonal -  lines that recede back to the vanishing point are added from each corner of the object.

Erase the extra lines to reveal a 3 dimensional cube and replicate the process for others.

Rules of 1 Point Perspective There is only one vantage point. There is only one horizon line. All lines come from one vantage point If the object is below the horizon line, the top will be visible. If the if the object is above the horizon line, the bottom will be visible. If the object is neutral (middle and on horizon line) neither the top or bottom will be seen.
