It takes an average sized bird 18 hours to fly the 400 km stretch over the Gulf of Mexico! Some birds don’t eat for three weeks when they migrate! Bar-headed geese have been recorded flying over the Himalayas at 10,000 meters above sea level! That’s as high as a jet airplane! The Arctic Tern flies about 30,000 kilometers per year!! That’s from the Arctic to the Antarctic…and back!
