Lets Look At Air Conditioning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MiQCBIx1mM

Systems are found in nature, and some are made by humans. Systems have parts or components that work together to accomplish a goal. A subsystem is a system that operates as part of another system. When parts of a system are missing or malfunctioning, the system may not work properly. Any system is usually connected to other systems, both internally and externally. Thus a system may be thought of as containing subsystems and as being a subsystem of a larger system.

Lets Draw a System 1. Lets attempt to draw your home Heating and Air conditioning system A. Label all Components B. Draw the direction the Air flows C. Draw the direction the electricity flows

Lets Make a System Teacher resource 1.1.1 part 2 Electric communications system Morse Code Transmission System Schematic Buzzer Battery Switch

Now build the transmitter and send a signal for ONE word

Now What are Some Pro/ Cons Write down your responses

Now Lets try it with an Operator Teacher resource 1.1.1 part 3 Now Lets try it with an Operator

Open Loop System- A system that gives NO feedback examples Open Loop System- A system that gives NO feedback examples. Door bell, lamp It’s a dumb system Closed Loop System- A system that gives feedback examples. Cruise control, thermostat for heating and air. Smart System

What additional features does this communication system need to make it “useful” for home use? Identify at least three subsystems used in this model. What subsystems would need to be “substituted” to turn this into a modern telephone system?
