Regional Basic Observing Network (RBON) Concept Follows Congress decision to implement WIGOS regionally Workshop in Geneva, 18-20 May 2016 A global multi-discliplinary subset of WIGOS responding to the RRR Integration of RBSN and RBCN New types of stations, e.g. weather radars, aircrafts, wind profilers, lightning detection systems, ships & buoys Managed by Regional Associations (and EC for Antarctica) Complies with Observing Network Design Principles (Manual on WIGOS) New Technical Regulations for RBON to be developed, e.g. Free exchange of data in real-time & near-real-time in WMO codes Metadata to OSCAR Commitment for at least 4-years operations High resolution data… Selection process and criteria Monitoring, management … cbs-16@wmo.int
