When you have finished, click the “Update” button to save your changes. (Click to advance to next slide throughout this presentation) Back to Menu

Review of passport requirements Your passport must be current at all times throughout your entire enrollment WSU CON is required to ensure student passport compliance to meet Nursing School Accreditation and clinical site requirements Students are responsible to upload the dates and ANY required documentation into E*Value for all required passport items Passport requirements are updated annually by a consortia; there are usually changes each year to requirements You are responsible to maintain compliance with the most current requirements 08/10/2017 Back to Menu

Review of passport requirements (cont.) Supporting Documentation Requiring Upload to E*Value Staff at the Spokane, Vancouver and Tri-Cities campuses verify that information uploaded by students meets requirements, and assist students as needed All passport requirements and description of what supporting documentation is required can be found on the Admitted Students page of the CON website at: https://nursing.wsu.edu/current/admitted-students/. Site Rotation Requests Each semester from now until graduation, the Clinical Placement Coordinator at your campus will send you a site request form via email 3-6 months in advance of the semester, fill out completely and return via email Use the mapping tool (see instructions in slide #9) to identify sites that align with your rotation requirements to help you in making site requests You CANNOT request to be placed at a location where you are employed. You can request placement within the organization, but not in the specific department where you work – for ex: you work at SHMC PEDS and can request to be placed at SHMC NEURO Please read the instructions carefully, and submit the completed site request form back to your placement coordinator via email as soon as you are able.  Your clinical placement coordinator cannot begin to search for placement for you until this form has been submitted back to them. It is your responsibility to submit this form back in a timely manner.  Students who submit the form within 1-2 months before the rotations start run the risk of not being able to obtain placement. 08/10/2017 (Click to advance to next slide throughout this presentation) Back to Menu

Using the Mapping Tool to Identify Clinical Sites to Request 08/10/2017 The MAPPING TOOL is very useful in identifying appropriate sites to request for upcoming rotations. It can be found at: https://nur-apps.spokane.wsu.edu/NEIW/Map/ ***NOTE: Due to the competitive placement climate, it may be necessary for you to travel for Clinical Rotations Back to Menu

Using the Mapping Tool (cont.) When you get to the home page, enter your home address in the ‘I am looking for sites near’. Select the radius from your home within which you want to search In 'Patient Care Focus contains' field, enter a key word to help you locate sites specific to your rotation needs.  For example: PMHNP students will first need placement in a mental health setting that provides individual and group counseling services.  Entering 'mental' in this field will pull in all sites within the radius you chose that offer mental health services.  From there, you can see a list of which mental health services they offer. FNP students taking NURS514 will need placement in a family practice setting.  Entering 'family' into this field will pull in all sites with the filters you chose that offer family practice services. When you later take NURS540/595 internship courses, you may wish to do some specialty rotations. Putting a keyword in this field for the specialty you are interested in will help you locate sites offering those services. i.e. Putting ‘derm’ in the patient care focus field will help you find dermatology sites. Clicking 'filter sites' will then show you results based on the filters you chose.  They will show in a list, and will also show on the map.  Hovering your cursor over each one on the map will pop up information about individual sites. 08/10/2017 Back to Menu

REQUESTING CLINICAL SITES 08/10/2017 Tips From Students Who Have Been There Get recommendations for clinical sites from a mentor, faculty, or from students in a previous cohort Participate in a Facebook group with your cohort to share ideas and feedback about clinical sites (Click to advance to next slide throughout this presentation) Back to Menu

ONBOARDING Some clinical sites have requirements above and beyond the WSU Grad Student Passport. In addition to ensuring that your passport is up to date at all times, it is VERY important that you complete all additional onboarding requirements that each of your clinical sites require BEFORE starting your rotation. Your clinical placement coordinator will assist you with this process. If you have an out of state placement, you will need to have licensure in that state and upload out of state licensure documentation to E*Value. 08/10/2017 (Click to advance to next slide throughout this presentation) Back to Menu

ONBOARDING Tips From Students Who Have Been There 08/10/2017 Start early in completing your onboarding-some sites have a lot of additional requirements. Follow up promptly on communications from clinical sites Consider staying in the same healthcare organization for more than one semester-it minimizes the time you spend onboarding each semester. Be flexible-sometimes you have to complete things that aren’t applicable to you. (Click to advance to next slide throughout this presentation) Back to Menu

WHAT’S NEXT? Training #3 should be viewed the semester before you start clinical rotations. This training can be found on your E*value home page This training will cover Updating your E*value profile and passport Clinical placement confirmation Onboarding and credentialing at clinical sites Required E*Value documentation for your clinical experiences, including time tracking, Case Logs (entering info regarding your client encounters such as procedures and diagnoses) Evaluations Guidance regarding communications with your clinical evaluator (faculty) 08/10/2017 Back to Menu
