Career Paths Unit 6: Kitchen Tools

Vocabulary pot: a deep container that holds food during cooking. pan: a shallow container that holds food during cooking. strainer: a metal bowl with small holes that sits in a pot-used for draining liquid from cooked food. stock pot: a large high walled pot with two handles sauce pan: a small moderately shallow pot with one handle.

Vocabulary double boiler: a set of two pots with one pot set inside the other and suspended above the bottom surface. bake pan: a rectangular shallow pan for cooking food inside an oven. skillet: s heavy iron pan with shallow walls used for frying foods on the stovetop. frying pan: a pan similar in shape to a skillet used to fry foods on the stovetop. sheet pan: a wide, flat pan used for baking.
