Also spoke with larger retailers (Thrifty’s, Save On) Prior to the delegation, community members met with the Mayor and made contact with individual Councillors

BRINGING IT FORWARD City staff can be a big help Survey the community Include businesses Gather feedback & summarizing data Report to Council Ongoing local media coverage Staff can help foresee the necessary steps to bring this forward. Anticipating possible pushback from some stakeholder groups informed the survey questions. The Communications Officer was key. As it turns out the response from businesses was overall neutral. The Chamber of Commerce also conducted a survey.

Making the motion Be strategic Consider possible obstacles Work with staff to get the wording right Allow for an implementation process Allow for a timeline The legal challenged faced by Victoria influenced the wording of our motion. Once that came through, staff was able to start on implementation proposals. Other priority situations have an impact on the speed with which this is done. Our communications office is working on this at present. I share any pertinent information that I may come across.
