Endpoint Addressing Lookup mailbox based on patient demographics Helps to ensure delivery to patient’s correct current GP Negates need for local lookup table Acknowledgement returns recipient mailbox ID
Message Tracking API Provides additional details of recipient Gives assurance that message has been acknowledged Enables issues to be flagged up quickly Results can be monitored without needing to access the Mesh On-Line Enquiry Service (MOLES)
Lessons Learned When contacting NHS Digital, make it clear you are using the MESH API not the MESH client. Sending documents into EMIS Web – any blank fields in patient matching criteria within the Kettering XML message will stop the document being matched to the patient in EMIS, even if the populated fields all match. Tracking – it could take up to 5 minutes for the status to be updated to acknowledged, even if there are no problems. Adding a delay to the route will ensure you get an accurate response.
What’s next? Deploy endpoint addressing into our live environment Send Transfer of Care documents in HL7 FHIR standard
