Main information on the «WORLD SPACE OBSERVATORY» project ALEXANDER MOISHEEV Lavochkin Association moisheev@laspace.ru 5/26/2019

Content of Presentation Main parameters of the Mission WSO/UV Spacecraft Status of activities on the project Schedule of the project development 5/26/2019

Main parameters of the mission Expected launch date – 2010 Life time – 5 years Operational orbit: conditionally-periodic orbit around the L2 Libration Point at a distance of 1.8106 km from the Earth; Telescope mass – 1600 kg Spacecraft mass - 2900 kg 5/26/2019

WSO/UV Spacecraft 5/26/2019

WSO/UV Spacecraft Mass of S/C with propellant: 2900 kg, including: Base service module (BSM) mass: – 1000 kg; Mass of the truss adapter (between the Telescope and BSM) - 40 kg; Mass of the BSM propellant – 260 kg; Mass of the payload (T-170M Telescope) - 1600 kg; The BSM propellant – hydrazine, pressurization gas – helium. 5/26/2019

The WSO/UV spacecraft Accuracy of the T170M Telescope pointing, no worse than 2 arc. min. Pointing and stabilization accuracy with use the data of Fine Guiding Sensor (RMS) – 0.1 arc.sec. The spacecraft rate at the precision stabilization mode - 10-4 arc.deg./sec. Rate of the S/C programmed turns - up to 0.1 arc.deg/sec Maximal duration of Science observation session in continuous mode: up to 30 hours 5/26/2019

WSO/UV Spacecraft Bit rate of the scientific data transmission: – up to 1 Mbps; Bit rate of the housekeeping TM data transmission – up to 32 Kbps.; Electric power available for the Payload – 750 W; Voltage of electric power supply – (27±1,35)V; Solar Array area – 24 m2 “NAVIGATOR” BSM is used as the Space Platform 5/26/2019

Т-170М Telescope 5/26/2019

Main features of the T-170M Telescope Mass of the Telescope – 1600 kg; Primary mirror diameter – 1,7 m Spectral band – (100 – 700) nm F-ratio – 10; Angular diameter of field of view – 30 arc.min; The Telescope power consumption – 750 W; Average power consumption of the Scientific Instrumentation – 300 W. Size (lengthwidth): Transportation condition – 5,67m  2,30m Operation condition – 8,43m  2,3m 5/26/2019

Status of activities on the project · The «NAVIGATOR» Service Module is under Ground Developmental Testing, the Flight Model will be integrated in 2006, the first launch: 2007 («Spectrum-R» and «Electro» missions). The Т170М Telescope is developed on the basis of T-170 Telescope, which had passed the main part of the Ground Developmental Testing Program. Release of the Working Documentation on Telescope and its systems is coming to end/ At the end of 2006 the manufacturing of the Telescope Qualification Model units will be completed and the dummies of the Primary and Secondary Mirrors will be manufactured.. In 2007 the following activities are planned: Telescope units off-line test, Telescope Qualification Model assembly and its vibration/static tests. 5/26/2019

The project development schedule 5/26/2019

Problems on the WSO/UV project Works on the Instrumental Compartment and External Instruments are behind of the general schedule because the Approved Scientific Instrumentation Complete Set is absent. The Schedule of work on the Scientific Instrumentation is not agreed with the Directive Schedule on the WSO/UV project. To provide the operational orbit in the L2 neighborhood the activities on the Space Platform are necessary. The activities include replacement of the Radio Complex by the one, that provides scientific data transmission at bit rate up to 1 Mbps uplink and downlink for a distance of 1,8x106 km. 5/26/2019
