The Positivity Project Ms. Romani’s Newsletter 2018 The Positivity Project We have been working with the positivity project this school year. The positivity project presents students with a word to work on each week. This month’s words include: gratitude and connection/purpose. Looking Forward Math: In math we will finish up learning about decimal operations and begin working on elapsed time. Reading: In reading we will start the month with summarizing and finish with colonial interaction. Science: In science we will be learning about ecosystems and we will review natural resources while also learning more about them. Social Studies: In social studies we will begin to discuss explorers and their motivation to colonize. We will finish the month by learning about colony social life. Class Dojo A few weeks ago I was introduced to Classroom Dojo, which is a website in which students can earn or lose points depending on their in-class behaviors. I sent home parent invitations should you wish to keep track of your child’s points! Please let me know if you would like your parent code emailed to you! I use classroom Dojo for a variety of things including awarding students with points for helping others, being on task, and participating in class. I also remove points when students do not have their homework, did not copy their homework in their agenda, and are not doing their work in class. I reviewed all of this with the students, and we developed the point criteria together. Reminders ∙ This month we celebrate the birthdays of Tobi Saenko, and David Parmley! Happy Birthday!! ∙ The students do not have school on Tuesday, November 6 for election day; however, this is the day for parent-teacher conferences. Please remember to sign up if you have not already done so! There is no school on Monday, November 12 for Veterans day. There is also no school from Wednesday, November 21 to Friday, November 23 for Thanksgiving. ∙ Our 5th grade field trip to Luray Caverns is on Wednesday, November 14! ©The Little Ladybug Shop
