Modes de vie des adolescents p.10 (= lifestyles of adolescents) Young French people like to play individual sports (judo, swimming, tennis) and/or team sports (soccer, rugby, basketball) They spend their free time with anything linked to audiovisual stuff (TV, movies, video games) They are also huge digital consumers: social media (facebook, Twitter, texting) – these instant messaging tools allow for a sense of community and a sense of virtual community according to taste, interest and social practices of adolescents Young people who share similar tastes in clothes, TV stars, listen to the same genre of music, fans of sports teams gather around fashion, music, sport, video games Young people create their own “lingo”, gestures, (often taken from their TV or sporting heroes) and even way of speaking.
