School Wide AVID Binder, Planner & Smart-Goals Welcome Staff School Wide AVID Binder, Planner & Smart-Goals Agenda New Planner Highlights Monday Binder/Planner Checks SMART Goals: 6-Week focus There are some exciting changes to the planner this year, we’re going to cover these first We have made some changes to our schedule, adding 10 minutes to first period on Mondays. This extra time will allow for binder and planner checks to be done in all first period classes. By the time you leave today, you should have what you need to make these successful in your class. This year we’ve decided to have a school wide focus for our six-week smart goals, and we’ll talk about that today as well.

Leah and Sierra designed the crest, which you will see posted around the school

We’ve added a 6-weeks at a Glance page, including the dates and important events. You might remember in the past we had to fill these in, so this is pretty awesome! Thanks again to Sierra and Leah.

The smart goal page has changed a little The smart goal page has changed a little. You’ll notice that the top is the same – there is ample space for students to write their goals. The check-in section has changed to require students to assess their progress on a weekly basis. We’ve also added some sentence starters that might help them to do this. And just like last year, there is room for students to reflect on their goal at the end of the six weeks.

This page has changed as well: Smart Goal check-in on planner rubric Assignment log – This will be a focus next six weeks, while it’s pretty self explanatory, it may be confusing for some kids. Encourage your students to use it as best as they can, this first six weeks, and we will spend time teaching them how to use it and monitoring them next six weeks. Parent signature is a tool for students with specific needs, IEP accommodations, parent request, etc.

This page is the same with the exception of the addition of the date, and days off marked.

All students will check their grades half-way through each grading period. They will be taught (in first period) how to go on-line and check synergy. They will fill this in themselves.

Welcome! Monday, September 12, 2016 Agenda: Bell Work: Clean, organize and re-stock binder (VIDEO) Planner Check: Weekly planner stamp earned if planner is filled out for ALL classes. Timely When will your goal be met?

S M A R T Throughout the first six weeks of school, I will maintain an organized binder by keeping all classwork and handouts in the correct section. This will be reflected in my weekly binder check score. Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant Timely
